Srinagar, Aug 4: Zakiya Binti Ajaz, a self-taught calligrapher, lettering and sketch artist from Batamaloo area of Srinagar city is wining accolades from those who come across her art.
Zakiya did her schooling from Woodlands House school, currently studying Arts and aspires to become a mature artist and at the same time wants to excel in academic field as
well.
“I developed my interest in this field in my early childhood. I try to draw my imagination out to create a new form of expression,” says Zakiya.
Zakiya’s personal Instagram Account is replete with calligraphic sketches she has drawn. Her mesmerizing art is attracting the attention of all who come across them.
She says some people are ready to pay her and she takes orders on social media.
She usually uses black ink on white sheet. She makes customized pieces for her customers and takes orders on social media.
Apart from Calligraphy, Zakiya also paints earthen pots , vases and decorates them trying different designs.
“She is very talented and I am proud of her,” says her mother.
Zakiya has participated in many art competitions and has received lot of appreciation and encouragement. She believes that doing art is one way to keep the minds and hands occupied.
“It’s fun to experiment with colours. I love and really enjoy my work,” says Zakiya.
Zakiya wants to compile an artwork anthology in her upcoming book “Kaleidoscope” to gain exposure.
“I have been lucky in terms of support I have received in pursuing my dream and passion. Thankfully, my parents are really supportive and encourage my artwork,” Zakiya says. (KNT)
