Ten houses gutted in devastating mid-night fire in Gurez village
Gurez, Dec 1, KNT: In a devastating mid-night fire incident at Gulab village near the Line of Control in Gurez Division of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district at least 10 houses were completely gutted.
Locals told news agency Kashmir News Trust that flames started emanating from the house of an army porter Ghulam Nabi Lone and it spread to other houses in no time.
They said the roaring flames engulfed 10 houses damaging them completely. Fire could have caused extensive damage if a quick reaction tram from a nearby army post had not arrived in the village.
“Local fire tenders reached the spot after 2 hours till then 10 houses were turned into ashes,” the locals said.
Locals added that army provided all kind of assistance to fire victims. “The army and civil administration provided blankets, tents and food to the victims and assured all possible help,” they said. (KNT)
