Pulwama : A nature lover from Hyderabad city of Andhra Pradesh is near to accomplish his dream of seeing Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on bicycle.
Rakesh, 29, a resident of Vizag city of Hyderabad, is on a tour to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
He has been traveling from past 38 days during which he has ridden around 30,000 kilometers on his bicycle.
” I am a nature lover, I want to explore different places on bicycle without causing any damage to the nature,” Rakesh told Rising Kashmir on phone from Ladakh, adding that he has left Kargil and is on way to Leh.
He informed Rising Kashmir that he has already travelled to South Indian including Kerala, Tamil Nadu and islands of Andaman, Nicobar.
” There is no match for Jammu and Kashmir, the atmosphere is pure, you get 100% oxygen here,” he said.
The young man has a praise for greenery of Kerala too.
He said that the urge to see Jammu and Kashmir compelled him to take his bicycle and ride it through.
“The tour to South Indian was through a travel agent. This time I want to send a message to our posterity; ride bicycle 5 to 10 minutes a day per week to get a strong body,” he said.
The rider said that he left Hyderabad on 25 of April and reached Kargil via Sonamarg.
Rakesh, a bachelor’s in commerce from GITAM
University, belongs to a middle class farming family.
He is a store manager in an apparel shop and has two siblings including a sister and a brother besides his parents.
“I had planned to see Manali, bad weather spoiled my plans, it started raining here and I will be returning home after Leh,” he said, adding that he is riding individually.
“I ride by day and sleep by night, sometimes people invite me to their houses but mostly I sleep on bus stops, in temples or old buildings,” he said.
