Ganderbal 5 Sep.: To redress and resolve the irrigation problem faced by the people of Wahidpora Ganderbal and its adjoining areas, the Jammu Kashmir United Movement President and Former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar Tuesday visited the village and took stock of irrigation facilities being provided to farmers through the Canal.
The purpose of his visit was to personally interact with the local farmers and listen to their grievances regarding the inadequate water supply of the lift irrigation scheme in the area.
As Mr. Jabbar entered the village he was greeted by a group of farmers who had gathered to express their concerns. They explained how the lack of sufficient water had severely affected their agricultural productivity and left them struggling to make ends meet.
Sheikh Ishfaq emphasized upon concerned officers of the I&FC to remove all the bottlenecks of lift irrigation scheme so as to provide the farmers sufficed irrigation water to dampen their fields.
The former MLA advised the concerned department to gear up their men and machinery to ensure sufficient water supply to the fields within the stipulated time.
After hearing the concerns of the farmers Mr. Jabbar assured them that he would take immediate action to address the water supply issue of LIS. He shared his plan of contacting the concerned authorities and raising the matter at the appropriate forums. He assured the farmers that he would push for the necessary improvements to ensure an adequate and consistent water supply.
The visit of the president of JKUM and former MLA Ganderbal brought a ray of hope to the farmers of Wahidpora. They felt reassured that their voices were being heard and that necessary steps would be taken to address their concerns.
This visit also brought attention to the larger issue of water management and irrigation in the district. It sparked discussions among policymakers and local authorities highlighting the urgent need for improved infrastructure and effective management of resources.
