06: Acting tough against the Drugs Peddlers, J&K Police District Ganderbal arrested a notorious gang of Inter-District Drug Peddlers and huge quantity of Contraband Substance recovered from their possession.
On the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Sandeep Gupta-IPS under the supervision of Gh Hassan-JKPS Hqr’s Ganderbal, Police Party led by SHO PS Lar laid Naka at Yenhama Lar. During Naka Checking one person namely Sheikh Murifat S/O Late Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh R/O Lar who was coming from Watalbagh towards Lar was apprehended with Contraband Substance Codeine Phosphate and the accused was arrested.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 23/2024, under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Lar. Thereafter on his disclosure and evidences surfaced in investigation Ganderbal Police raided at multiple Places and recovered Contraband Substance 559 Bottles of Codeine and 14900 No.s of Banned Psychotropic Tablets and in the said course of action 04 more accused persons belonging to different Districts of the Valley were arrested namely Sabir Nabi Shagoo S/O Gh Nabi Shagoo R/O Bemina Srinagar, Dowood Ahmad Rather S/O Ghulam Mohd Rather R/O Narbal Budgam, Rameez Rafiq Dar S/O Mohd Rafiq Dar R/O Ajas Bandipora and Parvaiz Ahmad Hanga S/O Gh Mohd Hanga R/O Karfuli Mohalla Srinagar. Some more recoveries and arrests are expected.
It is pertinent to mention that since January-2024 till date J&K Police District Ganderbal registered 12 NDPS Cases, Arrested 19 Accused Persons and Contraband Substance/Psychotropic Substance viz. 22 kgs & 754 Grams of Bang Powder/ Bangh Patri/Crashed Cannabis with seed tops, 11grams of Heroin like Substance, 675 Bottles of Banned Codeine like Substance, 14980 Psychotropic Tablets/Capsules, 84 Grams of Charas like Substance and Cash ₹ 79500 was seized.
People found indulging in Drug Peddling shall be dealt strictly as per law. Ganderbal Police requests Community members to share information regarding Drugs and its Peddlers present in the society with J&K Police so that future generations can be saved from this catastrophe.
