Gulmarg, February 3, 2025 – The Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir successfully commenced its annual district-level championship in Alpine, Snowboard, and Nordic skiing at the world-renowned ski resort of Gulmarg. The competition features boys and girls across multiple categories, including Senior, J1, J2, C1, and C2, showcasing the region’s top skiing talent.
A standout performance came from Dr. Alia Iqbal, a seasoned skier from Baramulla, who made a remarkable comeback to competitive skiing after a six-year hiatus. Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, Dr. Iqbal clinched the gold medal in the Slalom event in the Open (Senior) category and secured a silver medal in the Giant Slalom event.
The championship continues to serve as a crucial platform for young and experienced athletes to display their prowess in winter sports, further strengthening Jammu & Kashmir’s reputation as a premier destination for skiing and adventure sports.
