Srinagar, Nov 10 : The Kashmir Valley shivered on Sunday as the season’s first sub-zero temperatures were recorded, signaling the onset of winter chill. Pahalgam and Shopian recorded the coldest minimums at -3.2°C, while Srinagar registered -0.1°C.
As per details available with news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, reported that other parts of the valley also experienced freezing conditions, with Kupwara at -1.2°C, Baramulla and Budgam at -2.8°C, Pampore at -2.5°C, and Awantipora at -1.2°C. Srinagar Airport recorded -1.4°C, Gulmarg -0.2°C, while Kulgam, Bandipora, and Sonamarg recorded temperatures between -1.2°C and -2.6°C.
In the Jammu region, temperatures remained relatively higher, with Jammu city at 11.5°C, Katra and Kathua at 11°C, Jammu Airport 12.4°C, Banihal at 0.0°C, Bhaderwah 2.2°C, Batote 4.6°C, Udhampur 6.2°C, Rajouri 4.2°C, and Kishtwar 4.7°C.
Experts have advised residents, particularly in higher-altitude and sub-zero areas, to take precautions as the cold wave sweeps across the valley. (KNC)
