Srinagar, May 16 : Jammu and Kashmir’s COVID graph Saturday witnessed highest ever spike since the pandemic outbreak as 108 new cases were tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours. The Union Territory also recorded 12th COVID death also in the form an elderly man from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

With 108 new cases, the J&K’s tally has jumped to 1121. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that in last 24 hours 108 new cases were tested positive in J&K, among them 22 belong to Jammu division and 86 belong to Kashmir division.

They said among new 108 cases, 17 belong to Anantnag, 3 to Srinagar, 47 to Kulgam, 2 from Baramulla, 12 from Kupwara, 5 from Budgam, 10 from Kuthua and 12 from Ramban.

They further added that 51 were tested positive at Army’s Command Hospital Udhampur, 27 at SKIMS, 17 at CD hospital and rest at Private Lab Srinagar. Dr G H Yatoo Nodal Officer for Coronavirus at SKIMS said that out of 2501 tested on Saturday, 27 were found positive while as reports of 340 samples are yet to come.

He further added that among twenty seven new cases, 10 are from Jammu travellers, 12 from Kupwara, 03 from Anantnag and one each from Baramulla and Budgam.

Dr Salim Khan Nodal Officer for Coronavirus at GMC Srinagar said that out of 1002 samples tested in last 24 hours at CD hospital, 17 were found positive.

He further added on Saturday 658 more samples were received and reports of 100 samples are under process. Among the 17 new cases, 14 including 12 pregnant ladies belong to Anantnag district while as 3 including a 6 month old male baby belong to Kulgam district, he said.

The 12 pregnant Ladies include a 26 year old from Gutligund, 30 year old from Imooh, 22 year old from Zaadipora Khanbal, 27 year old from Sombron Achabal, 21-year-old from Telwani Achabal, 30 year old from Oodsoo Anantnag, 21 year old from Toosu Anantnag, 35 year old from Munward Anantnag, 25 year old from Brenti Dailgam, 23 year old from Achabal, 22 year old from CS Pora Anantnag and 25 year old from Gandoora Verinag.

“The other patients include 26 year old lady from Kangbanbal Achabal, 58 year old male from Momimabad Ashajipora who has travel history of Delhi besides 06 month old male baby from Khurbat pora Kulgam, 25 year old male from Narsingpora Kulgam and 21 year old female from Pahloo Kulgam,” he said.

Lt Col Inam Danish Khan from Army command hospital Udhampur told KNO that 19 travellers from Kulgam and Ramban were tested positive positive at the hospital on Saturday while as 36 were tested positive who all are travellers and belong to Kulgam and Ramban were tested positive at the hospital on Friday late night.

He further added that 693 samples were tested on Friday while as 814 samples were tested on Saturday at the hospital. Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday witnessed 12th death due to covid-19 as 70 year old man from Budgam expired at SKIMS.

Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan told KNO that a positive patient who hails from Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district has died at the institute today.

Dr Jan said that the patient was admitted to the hospitals yesterday after he complained of uneasiness due to heart problem. “The samples of the patient were taken soon after he was admitted in the institute. He was detected positive today,” MS SKIMS said.

As per officials figures 162 positive cases including one deaths and 28 recoveries are from Anantnag, 156 including four deaths and 84 recoveries are from Srinagar, 125 including one death and 135 recoveries are from Bandipora, 119 including and 6 recoveries are from Kulgam, 118 including 80 recoveries are from Baramulla, 107 including 64 recoveries are from Shopian, 97 including 48 recoveries are from Kupwara, 57 including 28 recoveries are from Budgam, 23 including 14 recoveries are from Ganderbal and 15 including 5 recoveries are from Pulwama.

In Jammu division, 39 including 27 recoveries and one death are from Jammu district , 24 including one death and 19 recoveries are from Udhampur, 31 including one recovery from Kuthua, 11 including 6 recoveries from Samba, 18 including 1 recovery from Ramban, 5 including four recoveries from Rajouri, 3 including one recovery from Reasi and one who has already recovered is from Kishtwar

As per the daily information bulletin 109,092 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 29,243 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 567 persons are in hospital isolation while as 107 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 65,049 persons have completed surveillance period and 14,114 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 76,191 samples are available.

Out of 76,191 the number of samples tested negative stands at 75,070 while as 1021 have been tested positive, among them 567 are active and 542 persons have recovered and 12 persons have died—(KNO)
