Srinagar, December 12: As a part of the public outreach programme of J&K Government, Srinagar Police observed *’Thana Diwas’* across various Police Stations and Police Posts of the city.
In the 1st phase for the month of December 2024, the event was organized in *(13) Police Stations & (02) Police Posts* of the district which include :

PS Kralkhud
PS Bemina
PS Shalteng
PS Chanpora
PS Ahmad Nagar
PP Urdu Bazar
PS Karan Nagar
PS Nowhatta
PS Kothibagh
PS Zadibal
The meetings were chaired by supervisory officers & juridictional police officers and were attended by civil society members including members of Auqaf Committees, members of Traders Federation and Transporters, Panchayti Raj members, Religious Preachers, Mohallah elders etc.
During these meetings, civil society members highlighted various issues of public importance and put forth their greivances which were within the domain of district police like illegal narcotics trafficking, sand mafia, traffic issues, floating population etc. and some of the issues highlighted pertaining to civil administration like improvement and maintenance of roads, sanitation, public health, electricity etc were also recorded.
Police assured them that genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and dealt as per law and those pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their timely redressal.
Participants were urged to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti- national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society, assuring the community members that Police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
By organising ‘Thana Diwas’, Srinagar Police reinforces its commitment to improve transparency and accountability in policing at grassroot level in the district and to develop confidence and synergy between police and citizens for effective redressal of grievances and enhanced police-public relationship.
