Srinagar, Jan 21: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, VK Birdi, stated that all arrangements have been finalized for the smooth conduct of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26 Republic day Celebrations.
Speaking to media persons, IGP Kashmir V.K Birdi, as per news agency JKNS, said, “A multi-tier security arrangement has been put in place to ensure the smooth movement of participants and the public for the function.”
Regarding the Sopore encounter, IGP Birdhi said that the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs. “During the operation, a hideout was busted. Terrorists inside opened fire on security forces, resulting in the injury of one jawan who later succumbed to his injuries. The operation in the area has now concluded,” he added. (JKNS)
