Shopian, Mar 22:As part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, District Police Shopian organized a Seminar cum awareness programme on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ at Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian. The event aimed to raise awareness about the menace of drugs and inspire youth to contribute to a drug-free society.
The programme was attended by *SSP Shopian, Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS* , and DySP Hqrs Shopian, *Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS* , SHO PS Shopian Inspr. Sameer Ahmad along with faculty members and students of the college.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Shopian emphasized the crucial role of education, parental guidance and stringent law enforcement in the fight against drug abuse. “Such initiatives help us effectively reach the youth and instill in them a sense of responsibility towards a drug-free society”. Several other speakers also shared valuable insights on the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of community participation in the fight against drugs.
A debate competition was held as part of the event, where students passionately expressed their views on drug addiction and its impact on society. Top performing students were awarded prizes in recognition of their outstanding speeches.
Shopian Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug abuse and urged students to become ambassadors of change by spreading awareness in their communities.
