Jammu, Feb 21: A man died after accidentally coming into contact with a live electric wire while cutting leaves from a tree near Salani Bridge in Rajouri on Saturday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Amjad Khan son of Saleem Khan, a resident of Mendhar in Poonch and presently residing at Ward No. 5, Panja, Rajouri.
The incident occurred when he was trimming leaves from a tree and inadvertently touched an overhead electric wire. He received a severe electric shock and collapsed on the spot, they told GNS.
Police reached the spot soon after the incident and initiated necessary legal formalities. The body was later shifted for further proceedings.
Further investigations are underway, they added. A police official told GNS that “prima facie it appears to be a case of electrocution. Further investigations are underway.” (GNS)
