Srinagar Police arrests drug peddler; contraband substance recovered
July 15: “`Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Srinagar, Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Foreshore road intercepted an individual identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie resident of Nowpora Chadoora Budgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 385 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Nigeen where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 121/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Nigeen and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community.
