Pulwama ,04 September 2020 : Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr . Rahgav Langer , Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Pulwama today conducted vehicle checking drive in the Tral sub division of Pulwama wherein scores of vehicles were checked during the day.

The drive was conducted in view of repeated complaints pouring from the area regarding the overcharging of fares by the service providers and violation of SOPs.
The team led by ARTO, Muazzam Ali , Motor Vehicle Inspectors and other officials checked hundreds of vehicles during the day for Overloading, Violation of route permits , Fitness, Pollution norms,Over Speeding,use of mobile phones while driving , Rash Driving and other offences.
During the drive, more than 20 vehicles were Challaned and an amount of rupees 5000 was recovered from offenders under various section of Motor Vehicles act whereas few vehicles were also black listed.

While sensitising the drivers regarding traffic rules , ARTO said that traffic violation leads to road accidents and kill hundreds of people on daily basis . He said adherence to laws can avert most of the road accidents besides making commutation hassle free.
ARTO added that use of mobile phones , stunting ,use of beams during night and non use of seat belts are common offences which can be easily avoided. He urged upon the drivers to be mindful of duties and responsibilities while driving and having self restraint in speeding limits is a way forward towards changing driving behaviours.

Commuters were also sensitised about the COVID – 19 and following of various SOPs isssued time and again.
