Dooru, Feb 26: Started in 2018, the work on mini secretariat complex undertaken by Jammu & Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) in 2018 in Dooru area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag is far from completion.

The work on Rs 6 crore -project is in limbo as officials cite a lack of funds to complete it.

In 2018, the then state minister Farooq Ahmad Andrabi while laying the foundation stone of a building for the mini secretariat announced that the building would be completed on time and all tehsil level offices would work under one roof to save people from moving around.

However, with the end of the PDP-BJP coalition government, the work of the secretariat also came to a halt.

An official said that the secretariat project was actually the responsibility of JKPCC as they had undertaken the work under sublet manner and work was started on the below portion (underground) in April 2018 till September after that work came to standstill.

Javid Ahmad Khan, a local said “In order to improve public services delivery the prestigious institution was sanctioned but the dream is yet to become a reality.”

The residents appealed the authorities to get the work on the complex completed as early as possible.

Deputy General Manager (DGM) JKPCC Anantnag Unit, Ghulam Hussain Dar told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the construction work of the building was delayed due to lack of funds.

“Rs 25 lakh crore were spent on the construction work of the project but due to lack of funds, the work was stopped in 2018. As soon as the remaining funds are released, the construction work will resume,” he said—(KNO)
