Bandipora, April 05: ‘Coffee and Kalaam’- an organization of young writers and poets on Sunday organised a day long literary function to commemorate the 2nd death anniversary of Young Scholar and researcher- Dr Jamsheed Jameel Mir.
Besides President Coffee and Kalaam Akeel Aasra, Patron Literary Forum Bandipora Mubashir Saleem Nazki, Prof Ismail Ashna, Presidet Literary Forum Bandipora Sufi Showkat, Ab Ghani Kumar, Mohd Akbar Khan, Gul Tanveer, writers, poets, students and the family members of late scholar were present on the occasion.
The speakers who spoke on the occasion included Prof Nasir Ahmad Khan, Mir Tariq, Rabia Geelani while poets who participated in the Mushaira included Hijr Momin, Taalib, Akeel Aasra, Mohsin Kashmiri , Mansoor Muntazir , Syed Kausar Bukhari , Riyaaz Rabani, Bilal Ahmad Miyaan, Nayeem Iqbal, Masroor Muzaffar, Sagar Sarfaraz , Sufi Showkat, Gh Nabi Zahid
The programme was organised in two sessions. Duroing the morning session several speakers presented their papers highlighting the work and contribution of Dr Jamsheed.
The speakers paid rich tributes to the young scholar and remembered him for being an upright person who stood for his principles until his last breath.
A Mushaira was held in the second session wherein poets from across the valley presented their poems to pay tribute to the young scholar.
`The president of Coffee & Kalaam, Akeel Aasra while sharing his views, paid rich tributes to the late scholar and expressed a commitment of providing a platform to all the young writers so as to get a good literary milieu to develop their literary qualities that will be a tribute to Jamsheed as he wished to create such a platform for the budding writers0
. He also mentioned that Coffee & Kalaam shall work on other different spheres of literature like criticism, drama, short stories, novels etc.
Mir Jamsheed was a brilliant writer and had written many research papers and articles for local as well as international publications. He died of cancer in 2019. Jamsheed had completed his research program in Peace in conflict resolution in 2014 and was working as a board member for Environmental Governance and Sustainability Studies since 2016.
