U-19 Boys Cricket Team of North Kashmir Range Baramulla emerged Champions of Zonal Level competition of ongoing U-19 Cricket Tournament being organised by J&K Police under Civic Action Programme.
November 02: The much awaited final match of the Zone Level T20 Cricket Tournament organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium Srinagar was played between CKR Lions and NKR Chargers here today.
After winning the toss NKR Chargers decided to bowl first and restricted CKR Lions to 136 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, NKR chargers displayed an outstanding show with the bat and dominated the overall play by achieving the target in the 19th over.
A colourful presentation ceremony was held after the match and players were felicitated with mementos, merit, participation certificates and cash prizes.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone Shri Vijay Kumar-IPS attended the function as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes and cash rewards. On the occasion, DIG CKR Srinagar, SSP Srinagar and other officers were also present.
The Tournament is being held in four stages. In the first stage District Level Tournament was held in which two teams were selected which participated in Range Level Tournament. After holding the Range level Tournament two teams were selected which represented their respective Ranges in the Zonal Level Tournament.
Two teams were selected based on their performance in the Range Level competition and named as NKR Chargers and NKR Defenders out of which team NKR Chargers emerged as champions after defeating CKR Lions today at SK Stadium.
Zubaid wani from Baramulla was adjudged as Man of the Series, Momin from sopore as Best Bowler of the tournament and Abdul Majeed from Handwara was adjudged as Man of the match and given prize of Rs. 5000/- each. Winner Team got Rs 60,000/- as cash reward alongwith Trophy, certificates and medals.
DIG Baramulla Shri Uday Bhaskar Billa has congratulated the young Players and Nodal officers for the sterling performance of the team in the Zonal Level Tournament.
