World Diabetes Day Observed in Bandipora

Bandipora, 13 November: World Diabetes Day was organised by Medical Superintendent at District Hospital Bandipora under the aegis of directorate of heath services Kashmir and Chief Medical Officer Bandipora.
MS DH Bandipora Dr Sheikh Mushtaq said that the World Diabetes Day 2021 theme is “Access to Diabetes Care”.
MLHP’S, ASHA Workers Anganwadi workers and patients attended the awareness programme.
A table top demo was conducted whereby health workers were trained to do urine sugar albumin etc at home, how to use Glucometer etc were demonstrated.
Screening session was conducted, free drugs were distributed on spot.
MS DH Bandipora said that we must bring awareness about causes, prevention tips for diabetes as nurses play a crucial role in supporting diabetic patients adding that as per studies one in two adults with diabetes remain undiagnosed.
India is known to be the diabetes capital of the world. According to the World Health Organization, 6% of the world’s population has diabetes.
Many people attended the event as well as witnessed healthy crowd at different health and wellness centres of the block.
Wing of NCD Clinic Bandipora also observed the day in Mini secretrait Bandipora where 81 samples were collected.
