Srinagar, Jan, 24: Peer Hakeem Gulam Qadir Reshi, widely known as ‘Qadir Bab’, ‘Qadir reshi’has vehemently denied accusations linking his traditional healing methods to liver failure in children.

In an exclusive interview with Sheikh Imran, Editor-in-Chief of The Voice of Kashmir, the 80-year-old healer from Saida Pora Bala, Srinagar, clarified that his practice only involves reciting Quranic verses over children, not administering any form of medication.

The controversy arose after a letter was sent by the Head of the Pediatric Department in Srinagar to the Principal of Government Medical College (GMC), raising concerns about the health of children who had been treated at Reshi’s clinic. The letter alleged that children who were discharged from hospital later visited Reshi, where they received unproven treatments.

Responding to the allegations, Reshi explained that he has been practicing herbal healing for over 45 years and comes from a family tradition of providing alternative treatments. “I’m part of a third-generation family of healers. My father and grandfather did the same work, using herbs and offering government-approved drinks like sharabat bazoori etc. I do not give any medication to children,” he said.

Reshi further emphasized that the only treatment he provides is Quranic healing, asserting, “We never administer any medicine to children.

We simply recite the Quran over them. If our treatment was harmful, why would parents continue to bring their children here? We only offer prayers, and by Allah’s grace, they recover.”

Following the allegations, local authorities sealed Reshi’s clinic and confiscated medicines for testing. However, Reshi remains steadfast in his defense asked The voice of kashmir chief Sheikh Imran to visit the clinic and speak to parents who have brought their children to him for treatment. “Let the parents speak for themselves. They’ll tell you how their children recover after coming here,” he added.

Reshi also recounted a recent case in which a child with severe jaundice was treated, claiming that the child was completely cured after receiving his treatment. He emphasized that he has helped thousands of children over the years without the use of any medication.

The investigation into the allegations is ongoing, but Reshi continues to maintain that his treatments are rooted in tradition, faith, and healing, with no ill intentions.
